Justine Lucas

A Life in Healing & Music

Justine Lucas (also known as "Madame Z") is a Bay Area singer, composer, and performer. She has toured the US and Canada several times and played great local venues including The Great American Music Hall, Slim's, Yoshi's, The Haight-Ashbury Music Festival, and Herbst Theatre. Justine Lucas attained her BFA degree with a minor in World Music & Dance from SF State University in 2011. From 2012-2015 she recorded 4 albums, one of which features several Big Band players from George Benson's studio band. From 2014-2018 she traveled throughout the US and Canada with Cavalia, Cirque du Soleil, and Ringling Brothers studying the art of live performance.

Jazz and Meditation...

In addition to studying vocal training techniques in opera, jazz, and country music, Justine has also been exploring the connection between the chakras and singing voice for years. Many of her songs are written from what she called a “deep-listening” place and are a part of her greater life’s inner work.

Justine was first introduced to chakras and alternative healing methods at a young age by her grandmother, Judith Winston, who is a Polarity Therapist, a Level 2 Reiki Healer, and the founder of Health Touch NC LLC, an alternative healing center based in North Carolina.

In summer of 2022, Justine became the pioneer for meditation and chakra based musical education. She was the first to offer a comprehensive program that gives singers holistic healing tools to not only enhance their musical expression, but also use music as a part of their greater healing journey.

Somatic Singing

Sing from your Chakras

Justine Lucas wrote and performed the song "Don't You Make Me Mad" by tapping into Sacral chakra.
Somatic Singing

What is Somatic Singing & How can it help you?

Somatic Singing is a healing modality developed by Justine Lucas that uses a combination of yoga breathwork, guided meditations, gentle vocal warmups, somatic chakra listening, and spirit singing. These five practices work together to harmonize your chakras, release energetic blocks, unlock your natural singing voice, and help you stand in your personal power. This practice greatly improves many areas of your life ~ it helps you connect more deeply with your spirit when singing, feel more confident when speaking, and express your needs more clearly at your job or in your personal relationships.

Is Somatic Singing right for you?

Do you experience any of the following?
  • Stagnant or stuck energy in the body

  • Low self-esteem on stage

  • Lack of self-confidence when singing

Then Somatic Singing is right for you. We're here to help you move through these very common blocks and access full-freedom-confidence with your voice.

Somatic Singing - The Justine Lucas Method

What Somatic Singing does in the body

Somatic Singing utilizes the power of breath, meditation, and vocalization to balance your chakras and activate your spirit to the point of pure expression.
Yoga Breathwork

Breathing exercises from Iyengar and Hatha yoga lower cortisol levels in the body, disabling the fight-or-flight response and creating a sense of calm and inner peace.

Meditation

Custom Guided Meditations help you clear your mind and access joy, releasing dopamine and endorphins (the feel-good hormones), which give you confidence in singing.

Chakra Energy

Somatic chakra listening exercises help you access psychology stored within the body, so that you can start processing and moving energy out through the voice.
